A fire broke out at No.5 Units in Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant

A strong earthquake has struck northeastern Japan on Wednesday night. A tsunami adivsory has heen issued for Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures.


At around 11:36pm, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 occurred offshore Fukushima Prefecture at a depth of 60km. The maximum intensity was 6+. Tsunami warnings advisories have been issued. 

An approximately 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit Japan's Myagi and Fukushima prefectures. Fukushima is home to a large nuclear power plant that was hit by a quake in 2011, causing a nuclear disaster.

According to local media, many residential building in JAPAN was damaged and several people received major injuries while leaving their homes. Notably, some residents were caught by surprise when the earthquake hit, so people had to stay outside

Japan Meteorological Agency on Saturday midnight issued a tsunami warning on the country's Pacific coast and urged residents to evacuate from seaside areas

Japan nuclear authority says nuclear fuel pool of No.1 Units at Fukushima Daini nuclear power plant has stopped cooling. No.3 was also out of service for a while but has now returned to normal.
